Eve systems have been providing homekit-connected devices since 2015, and the new pre-product available for purchase of the Eve room capable of measuring temperature, moisture and air quality on the eve.
The new Eve room is actually an upgraded version of an original Eve room that was published in Eve’s first product in 2015, but the new version has been overhaul with a new designed enclosure, both slickers and more informative.
The original Eve room was just a slight white plastic block, the house adopted new aluminum and e-ink design that was introduced with a degree on the first eve, the more affordable temperature and moisture monitor that did not provide air quality monitoring.
Like the degree on the eve, the Eve room is palm -shaped and small enough that it is continuous on a shelves, on a table, on a kitchen counter or on the bed table. It measures 2.1 x 2.1 x 0.6 inch, which is quite small than measuring 3.1 x1 x 1.3 inches in the original pre -house. The Eve room should not be used in an indoor product and outside.
The 200×200 e-ink display in the Eve room shows the current temperature, moisture and air quality, depicted as a series of stars up to five to five. If you press on the side arrows of the display, you can cycle through the temperature, moisture or some display options that focus on both.
I prefer to add the e-ink screen in the Eve room because I can check the conditions of the room at a glance without the need to open an app or ask Siri, something that was necessary with the previous version of the Eve room. You need some energy to change the display output, but it is great to get the option to focus on the most important parameter to you.
Products basically depend on replaceable batteries in the previous before, but in the Eve room there is a built-in rechargeable battery that can be driven with a micro-USB cable, it is a great design change that eliminates the need for battery. For the previous version of the Eve room, I had to replace the batteries every few months.
According to Eve, the new Eve room lasts for about six weeks before recharging the room.
Like most products of Eve, the Eve room connects to a homekit setup using Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi, so no hub or Wi-Fi connection is required to visit the room temperature. Bluetooth-connected homekit products were defects early in the homecut, but for the past several years, all these issues have been implemented.
I have now used the Bluetooth-connected Eve product over the years and have never had any problems with getting temperature or air quality readout soon to open the app or ask Siri. It takes only a few seconds and the products continue to work on my eve when I am away from home because I set up as a homepod and an Apple TV hub.
Because the Eve room uses Bluetooth there are some situations where the range of readings can be restricted. I never ran to the issue, but the past precision reviews on sites like Amazon have occasionally referred to Bluetooth Range as a problem.
To open the pre -application app to add the house on my homekit setup, tap the “+” option to add a new product, and scan the homekit code. The app has now identified the Eve room and it was added to Homeky in a few seconds.
As mentioned above, the Eve room tracks air quality, temperature and moisture. For comparisons, Eve degree, other similar sensors of Eve, track temperature, moisture and air pressure.
In itself, the air quality is displayed as a star rating, but within the application, specific air quality information is available with the correct reedouts of PPB (Billion) that is tracking the sensor. Like many devices monitoring air quality, the Eve room is designed to monitor unstable organic compounds or VOCs.
VOC is a gas that is produced by a wide range of sources, from clean product to cooking from perfume. It does not detect Particulate Matter so it cannot track things like pollen, dust, pet dender, bacteria and other possible allergens.
The Eve room will tell you when the quality of the house is weak due to the VOCs of the wind and I saw the increase in the VOC ratings while doing things like cooking and cleaning.
To ensure that the air quality is safe for pets and children is effective in measuring VOCs and to inform you when a house should be promoted after cleaning. The house does not do anything about the VOCs that it is sensitive, so it is useful to associate with the air purifier.
Air Purifier that does not already detect VOCs, the house can tell you a good time to drive it to keep your home air clean. There are a few homekit connected air purifiers, but a smart plug is likely to be connected with accessories like the Eve room for automatic use based on VOC readings.
Of course, if the outside air quality is good outside, you can only open a window to cut VOCs due to cooking, cleaning and other activities.
In the app, in the app, you can see all the information collected by the Eve room at a glance and you can add it to the homekit scene and automation.
Although the EV application is effective to see the air quality, temperature and moisture information at a glance, where the Eve room shines its historical tihahasic data. The Eve room tracks all these parameters in a few days, weeks and months, so that you can view trends and overall data that can be exported if needed. The data is stored if you are away, so you need to sync up with the house only every week or more.
In Apple’s Home App you can see current temperature, humidity and air quality, but you cannot see historical Tihasic data. The information is better presented in the application on the eve, so it is an occasion where it is like using the dedicated app for the device than the home app.
Like all homekit products, Eve works with the room series. You may want to tell you the current temperature, moisture or air quality in the room where the current temperature, moisture or wind.
In my exam, the Eve room was mostly accurate. I have other temperature sensors in my office and on the eve the house was always in a degree for both temperature and humidity. It also matches the VOC readings that I have seen with my Dyson fan, and the air quality usually does not fluctuate until it is exposed to VOC through cooking and cleaning.
I am not sure that the house on the new before the existing is more correct than the existing because I have seen the correct lessons from the original model. The Eve website says that it is +/ -0.54 ° F and +/- 3% moisture is correct with humidity, with 32 ° F – 122 ° F and 5% – 95% of the operating range in humidity.
Bottom line
It is useful to track temperature, moisture and air quality from homekit-connected devices, but at $ 99, the Eve room is expensive. The new version of the Eve room is better than the predecessor in almost every way, but it is also the price.
Most of us know about opening a window while cooking or cleaning smoke, but there may be some events where VOCs are less clear and the Eve room can give you a simple lesson of air quality. The Eve room can do nothing about bad air quality, but it can tell you when you need to open the window or turn on the air purifier and it is definitely integrated with other homekit accessories.
The house will not be for everyone at this price point on the eve, but in the sensitive region where there are pets or children, it is likely to be suitable for an concern for air quality.
Temperature and moisture settings are also effective for monitoring such a region, including cigar storage, a wine seller, or moisture sensitive plants like orchids.
Of course, if you only need to monitor temperature and moisture, there is an Eve degree, which is just over $ 60 cheaper on Amazon. The Eve room is, however, the only prior to the device that measures the air quality and one of a few homecut-connected devices is capable of doing it.
