Bang & Olufsen recently published the third generation of his award -winning BOSound A1 Portable Bluetooth Speaker and after playing with it for a good month, I am shaking to bring about negative.
Of course, it is expensive at $ 399, and this ultraportable unit from B&O has been shamefully pitching on the premium edge of the Bluetooth Speaker Market, but the design of the Danish high-end audio manufacturer and the principle of crafts just equally justify the price. Fortunately, it sounds great too.
Design
Taking A1 out of the box, the first thing you first hit you is the brief of the unit, especially the materials used in its construction. At about 1.27 pounds (576 g), it is not the lightest ultraportable speaker I have to do, but its neatly minimal ‘hockey Pak’ design is slightly slightly, partially embedded around the power, volume, pause/pass, and thanks for attaching the joint control. The charging LED as well as a USB type-C charging port in the rim.
The speaker has a pearl-explosive aluminum body with more than 2,5 perfect-mixed holes, one of which has an LED power index. This is a distinctive style of it in any way, but thinking is also gone to keep it portable. Many customers will be proud to look after the premium gears that have given top dollars for them, so the lack of a protective bag at this price point is to exclude the only disappointing.
Ease of use
Bluetooth 5.1 is applying force to the speaker and holding the pair button it was immediately displayed in both iOS and Macos. The pair was established without the pair – it was certified MFI (made for the iPhone), above all – and the speaker did not leave it until the speaker remained within the reasonable range. Depending on which audio is playing it, it has been happy with the two pair devices, thanks for its multipoint feature. Google Fast pair and Microsoft Swift pair are also supported, though I didn’t have hardware to test them.
The B&O and iOS application is a free download that works with all the speakers of the company and can be used to upgrade the device firmware. You can use it to add two A1 speakers and enjoy the true stereo separation with each other, just keep in mind that there is no benefit to attaching units to the larger multi-room setup. (Airplay is not supported, but B&O has finally added support to previous models, so I hope it will come in the future)
Also, the app allows you to switch to a few handful presets designed for A1, titled “Ambient,” “Party,” “Speech,” “Dear,” and “Optimal”. You can create yourself by adjusting a notification interface with “bright,” “strong,” “warm,” and “relaxed” labeled. They distinguish an audible, but in the end I preferred the default sound signature of A1 and settled for the “optimal” setting.
Sound quality
BOSound provides the quality of great speakerphone in the 3-microphone array and has no problem picking a voice from a house. However, it is Sonali that really affects. Hanging, placed on a desk or even on the floor, spreads words all over A. 1 amazing confidence and ease. The wide angle of its projection was a bit chaotic at first – when the speaker sat down in a simple sight, a person entered the house thinking where the audio source was hidden.
According to B&O, the largest wafer of A1’s D class is featured, a bus with a bus with SPL of 64 DB (2 db higher than its predecessor) provides a deep shaft. Achieving decent audio on this scale is not an easy reputation, but with enough apps with A1 jazz and classical genes, only a few handful deep bus notes are missing from time to time in instrumental tracks, which are completely apologized for a unit of this size, 54Hz – 20KHZ – 20KHZ reaction.
I took A1 to the garden during a baby’s birthday party and the details of the Disney melodies and the likes of it were just as confident. Provides great projection across the lawn, performing it especially well while hanging from the nearest fence through its skin strap.
I used A1 every afternoon in a week, it examines different situations – in the shower (it has an IP 67 waterproof rating), garden, local park and my office space. The battery life of the unit easily depends on the task, it is not surprising that it extends up to 24 hours on a single charge.
When the LED light in the unit finally shines to indicate that the battery reached its last 10 percent power, it still lasted the whole afternoon and the A1’s battery reached the full capacity within an hour when I charged it through the cable. Given what I put on it, the advertisement does not seem to be taken at the “24 hour” charge at all.
It is noteworthy that a 10 -year -old lifetime designed Modular Architecture in A1 is featured and the first Bluetooth speaker to obtain the Craddle to Cradol Certificate. B&O says that the certificate is “to support a serviceable, upgradable and repaired approach to the product design”.
Bottom line
Overall, A1 is a very impressive-sounding Bluetooth speaker that survives its many generation reputation. Its thoughtful, stylish aesthetic easily puts it on the other speakers in the design section, but its audio output equally attracts attention and most premium beats rivals.
A significant achievement of the bus from this small unit and the achievement of Sonali details from this small unit is combined with the balanced dispersion and great battery life, the A1 really exhausted old proverb is what you provide.
