Earlier this year, Cobo rocked the e -reader’s world when she released simultaneously the trio of the new electronic reader. Two of these devices, Kobo Libra and Kobo Clara, were from the e -reader with a price that the market has ever seen. But Kobo Clara BW, the third device, tends to be lost in all of this noise due to its colored siblings.
The Clara line has been present since 2018, and the only important change over the years was on the screen. Clara HD was the first Carta screens. CRARA 2E Carta 1200 was promoted. With the Clara BW version, the screen was upgraded to Carta 1300. Kobo has also changed the processor with each generation, but each had one hour speed, to tend to overlook. Given that Clara BW is to upgrade the minimum of its previous incarnation, how it stands, and is it worth investing in it?

Price, availability and specifications
Kobo Clara BW is available from Rakuteen and Amazon for $ 130. You can also pick up three covers for Clara BW: a clear plastic status ($ 20 of Rakuten, $ 22 of Amazon), a Blue Blue Cobalt sleep cover ($ 20 from Rakuten, $ 22 of Amazon), FOLO sleep cover with an oregami holder available in black, Candy Pink, Cayenne Red, and Misty Green ($ 30, Rakuteen and Amazon). There are also many cases available from third -party sellers.
When it comes to specifications, Clara BW sits mainly for almost everything and has not changed much over the years. It contains a 6 -inch screen with 300pi pixels and 1448 x 1072, just like 2E.
It contains 16 GB internal storage and 1 GHz and 512MB of memory, just like 2E (although BW uses a Mediaatek chip, not possible like 2E). The battery is 1500 mAh per hour, such as 2E, weighing 174 grams, only 3 grams heavier than 2E. Unlike the Carta 1300 screen, it is the same device in the first place.

What is good in Kobo Clara BW?
The size matters
Clara BW is a small device, and in my estimation, this is often good. For one reason, I like Clara BW to fit my pocket. It is not clear that the pockets are on my narrow jeans, but they fit the pockets of shorts without a problem. This means that it is much easier to travel with even with Kobo Libra 2, the largest marginalized.
Despite the small size, Kobo has a great reader with all its devices. Therefore, it is very easy to control things like distorted lines and lines. There are also a lot of ways to customize the offered information.
Personally, I would like to see the pages of the pages on top and bottom margins (pages in the current chapter on top, and pages on Book on Bottom), but you can also choose to view the percentage of reading, estimated time, or nothing at all. I also love the dark mode of night reading, but unfortunately, there is no dark position for the KOBO user interface.
Since we are talking about the screen, the new Carta 1300 screen looks really nice. The contrast is incredible, and the decision is great. The shadows are always present with E ink, but it hasn’t distraction yet.
Clara BW contains a COMFORTLIGHT Pro Kobo front light, which I love very much. It can be adjusted by slipping up or down to the left of the screen, and contains a soft butter transmission from the outside to walking through shades or dark corridors.
What is bad in Kobo Clara BW?
Where is cow meat?
Well, 512 MB of RAM is not enough. There was at least one occasion when I was tested a disk to zoom (do not do it) and Clara BW is just a kind of closing for a few seconds and will not respond to my inputs. I will necessarily recognize economic to use a cheaper slice to keep the device competitive, but in my estimation, it wasn’t worth it. After saying this, when my device was not closed, it was generally great.
The size of Kobo Clara BW is one of its greatest origins, but it seems that Kobo has not tried to meet readers as they are. The device is small and light, but it may be somewhat embarrassing to keep expanded reading sessions in some situations. Wandering or sitting on the sofa is not a problem, but lying down and reading my hand. This is because there is no good way to support it with one hand. I may just feel nostalgia for Kobo Libra 2, which has a great extent for an easier suspension. It would be better if you could carry Clara BW in the direction of the landscape, but it does not support the rotation of the screen.
Talking about that, I want buttons. This beating on the screen is not particularly exhausting or does not respond, because I do not want it. It is possible to turn the pages when touching an area of the screen, but I find it very customary to touch the crosses that deserve my time. I tried to connect the 8BitDo control unit via Bluetooth as well, but Clara BW had no of it.
Should you buy it?
Yes with some warnings
Kobo Clara BW is a powerful device that most of them will not regret. Kobo was in the electronic reader game for a long time so that the user interface was mature and easy to navigate. Side books are easy such as clouds and dropping in root guide, and purchase from an easy Kobo environmental system like purchase from Kindle/Amazon. The Kobo Electronic reader also allows more technically tampering, but not overwhelming like Boox.
If you already have an electronic reader of the past five years or so, you will not see much improvement about what you have already have. There is also a lot of competition in this size that can affect your opinion. Kindle base is $ 100 and Nok Glowlight 4E is only $ 80. The most expensive 6 -inch device, Box Poke 5, is $ 180, and works on Android 11, and has an expandable storage capacity, and better specifications everywhere. Of course, none of these devices contain the Carta 1300 screen, so if the gains that the new Carta screen brings to the table is important for you, Clara BW is the right device for you.

Clara BW of Cobo is not the best in what he does, nor is it the worst. If you want an electronic reader that is easy to use, supports all major file formats, which is outside the Amazon ecosystem, this is an easy purchase to justify it.
