Like the iOS 26, iPados 26 takes Apple’s new liquid glass material for an interface that is shiny, shiny and more transparent than ever before. However, liquid glass is not the biggest change in the Apple iPad software. Multitasking has received a necessary necessary rebuild that allows you to use an ipada like Mac, if you want to do it.

In IPados 26, Oipada Windows Mac works like Windows. You can open more than one application Windows, turn them into exhibitions and level each other if you want. You can keep them basically anywhere.
Some old iPads are limited to four open app windows at once, but if you have more new models, you may have more applications open and running, with a tap to change them. Each ipada capable of running iPado 26 can use new multitasking features in some powers.
The updated windowing is opt-in, so when you install iPados 26, you can decide if you want to use applications on the entire screen or use multitasking. It is great that people who want to use an ipada like Mac have finally have that option and the window system is a much better solution than slide over and split view multitasking.
If you turn on the windowing and then want to turn it off you can simply swipe the control center and hit the new toggle.
Talking about slide over and split view, they are gone. Stage Manager is still there, so if you use it in your ipada workflow to change different applications and workplaces, it is still available to you.
Windows 26 is easy to re -size Windows. There is a small “handle” in the bottom right corner of each window and if you pull it and you can change the size of the open window. You can open additional applications from the dock or by taping on the home screen.
To move an open application window, drag it from the menu bar to the top. It’s new too. Ipada’s applications have Mac-national menu bars where you will find relevant options in applications, though keep in mind that third-party developers need to update their applications to take this functionality. You can turn off an app, minimize an app, or create an app full screen using “Traffic Light” buttons on the upper left side of each ipada window, which is directly borrowed from the Mac.
If you give long pressure on these buttons you will see several options for moving, re -size and sorting your open windows. You can move an app to the top, bottom, left, or right of the display or choose a tiling option to display four applications in the neat format.
To make it easier to get all you installed applications on your AIPADA, the dock has an app library. If you swipe up from the bottom of the exhibition of OIPad, your open windows have flowed to a new exposure view so that you can get a clear view of everything open.
To add a touch like one more Mac, Apple turned Oipada’s cursor into a shore. So if you are using the peripheral like a trackpad on the magic keyboard, the cursor looks like Mac now.
If you do not want to use any of these multitasking features and prefer the ipada applications to be the entire screen, you can always continue using ipada the same way you are always.
There are some great features that are mentioned in IPados 26 outside of multitasking.
- File – There is a Mac-style list view for the IIPADA File App, so you don’t need to see everything in the tiled view as before. The columns are re -sizeable and folders can be customized with color and emoji. If you use a regular file app, this is a great change, but the best part for power users may be an option to choose a default app for any specific file type.
- Background – If you download a large file, export a large video file or do something that is about to take a long time, you can now run these tasks on the background. For an FCP video export, for example, you can start the process, open another app and see progress through live activities interface.
- Phone app – The iPados 26 phone app brings the app on the IPADA and it works via Wi-Fi to call your Apple account to the iPhone related to your Apple account. This is probably for many people for limited use, however, to have an option to have a call from ipada Call screening, live translation, and tools such as tools to help with IPIPADA.
The iPad has new useful and/or fun features that are new to iPados 26, but almost everything is also at ieos 269 and we have reviewed an iOS 26 that discusses new features on messages, apple music, photos, cameras and more.
Availability
IPados 26 is available for developers and as this week, the public beta tester. It was published on Thursday and what you need to do to get it is to sign up on Apple’s Beta Exam Website.
Should you update?
IPados 26 is fairly stable, so updating should be safe. If you want to create a backup before you upgrade, only if you have to go back to iOS 18.
If IPADA is a device that you use for work or anything else that is important, you may want to stop. This is a beta, and when the software is going well, the bites may have bugs that cannot be resolved right now.
