Review: Anbernic’s RG35XX (2024) miss the mark

by red

For those of you who have not paid attention, there is something from the current Renaissance currently in the gaming community. Reaction games always have a degree of popularity, as modern classics such as Shovel Knight and Undertale are inspired, but now, mobile devices that have been built a purpose for playing classic games multiply as it has not happened before. Anbernic leads this new wave of portable retro.

Anbernic makes a reasonable effort since before 2020 and the RG35XX series is one of the most common entry points for players in old and reactionary school. RG35xx the market hit for the first time in December 2022. Since then, ANbernic has released more reupting operations, such as 35xx H, 35xxSP and 35xx Plus. RG35XX (2024) is the same system as a model 2022, with the addition of the Allwinner H700 chip used by its siblings. Given that it is only less than $ 10 of its internal competition, is it worth 35xx (2024) to buy today? Let’s dig and discover.

What is good in RG35XX (2024)?

What do you like in reactionary games?

The best thing in the latest 35xx is the number of generations of video games you can emulate. The previous repetition of 35xx was not unable to play Dreamcast games with any sincerity, but from the performance point of view, the version (2024) has no problems. Likewise, it plays PlayStation 1, PSP and DS without problems. The simulations and games are installed for all these keyboards on the SD 64 GB card included with the device.

RG35XX (2024) also feels a good device not exceeding $ 40. It is not perfect (a little more), but he does not do that Feel cheap. The buttons have decent tact, most of them, do not feel Moses. The screen is bright, the sound is good (at least on the headphone socket), and the whole construction feels strong.

On the software side of things, anbernic offers a decent operating system. It does not contain all the bells and biles owned by some of the company’s designated tools, but for the operating system in the home that works outside the box (with simulations that match the best simulation on Android), I have no complaints. The firmware scene of H700 devices has not been developed as the original RG35XX, but with a little technical knowledge, there are at least three options of OS operating system completely to choose from.

What is bad in RG35XX (2024)?

Cut a lot of corners

Anbernic rg35xx 2024 with accessories

Let me repeat just that RG35XX (2024) is a decent carried, but it is a device that does not know what to be. Take the H700 CPU, for example. It is strong enough to play PS1 and Dreamcast, but 35xx does not contain representative controls, which means that there is a large part of the 32 -bit library that is literal (unless you connect a nice controller). While the original RG35XX was the first in the series, every difference has been released since then obtained the support of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, something that “promotion” lacks and is very missing in a device that has been released today. The lack of Wi-Fi-Compleiding-Retro’s achievements that I miss in particular.

I mentioned that RG35XX (2024) does not feel cheap, but there are some warnings for this opinion that needs to be mentioned. The first is the shoulder bosom. Gently shaking the device, R and L buttons, to a jamjah around it. Obtainable directional inputs are also difficult, making it pain in the back of the target in some archers in running. Finally, there is a strange gap behind the screen where the light bleeds from the rear light. On their own, it is not worth noting these problems, but it adds to an experience that may leave some with the regret of the buyer. In fact, you may be better at something like Ayaneo Pocket S.

Some convincing specifications do not feel enough to justify this sophisticated device by hand

I also feel frustrated due to the lack of appropriate documents. RG35XX (2024) includes a small instruction booklet printed in mandarin and English, but it is full of errors and only covers the basic functions. If you want to know how to use your new hand device, you will have to connect to the Internet and search for third websites. This is logical if you are installing a dedicated fixed program, but it should be easier to learn the peculiarities of the stock operating system.

Although I love the stock operating system experience, there are some dodges. 35xx (2024) can either use anbernic or Retroarch simulations. For the largest part, I did not see a difference between the two, but I found some frustrating dodgers. When using the stock emulator, I received an error message whenever you try to save the condition of the game. I did not have this problem with Retroarch, but loading the case of the game will be caused by the game that the game is not playable. Also, the stock emulator will not save the high grades of Arcade, so all of my Arcade games should have been on Retroarch. Fortunately, Retroarch was the superior experience of the simulation options.

Should you buy it?

RG35XX (2024) is a decent device, and I am facing an explosion that plays games, but I wish I spent another $ 10 and got the RG35XX H instead. For extra Hamilton, it will cost you 35xx H, you will get representative stick and Transfer the wireless file).

Do I enjoy RG35XX (2024)? Yes, definitely, but I also feel sorry for not getting something with a representative stick or Wi-Fi. If you are only interested in ≤6 -bit games, there are more affordable systems. And if you want to play 32 -bit games, it is better to get something with a representative stick.

Anbernic RG35XX (2024) is a lot of fun and can largely play each game that depends on SPRITE at all. However, at a similar or slightly higher price, there are many best devices there. RG35XX is fun, but you will be happier with something else.
