Goodness

Paid

The display screen to the height of 6 “18: 9 is long, but it is not wide – so U12+ is not very difficult to carry it. Viewing angles are good, and the colors are very saturated (not my favorite, but most people like this), and the brightness inside is solid.

A striking design

Although I am not a fan of semi -transparent blue look, the black silver version of this phone is very beautiful … if the fingerprints are not exposed.

camera

The basic rear camera of the U12+takes some of the best images that you saw on any smartphone, and the Zoom Zooto 2x lens is very useful.

USB Energy Delivery

The Quick Charge 4.0 Certificate means that U12 can use both Quick Charge 3.0 and USB-PD shipments to be able to rise quickly.

The fingerprint scanner

It looks fast and accurate, and it is in the right place (on the back of the phone).

Loudspeakers

U12+bilateral dual loudspeakers look very good, even knit to the maximum – although one is facing down.

Not very good

Energy buttons and size

They left – HTC replaced them with fake, sensitive keys to pressure that provide severe notes (do not underestimate), which are very terrible.

beloved

At $ 800, U12+ there with some of the most expensive smartphones on the market, and given the shortcomings, is difficult to justify this price.

There is no headphone socket

HTC does not include even Dongle USB to 3.5 mm with U12+ – you have to buy it separately. This is annoying and Grubby Money.

slippery

U12+, like U11, very slippery. It is made of glass, so you will want to protect it. Good luck finding more than a handful of good third -party cases there.

sense

Sense appears to be old and tiring, as well as HTC stock applications. This phone will feel more modern with Android One. Performance is not something to write home, either – U12+ does not feel speed or smooth like pixels 2 or OnePlus 6.

Battery life

Even with a somewhat large battery 3500 mAh, U12+ does not last long enough. I managed 3-4 hours of screen on time compared to the Pixel 2 xL’s 5-6. This is very subpar in 2018.

Support

I will be honest – I have heard some of the very disturbing things about HTC guarantee support in the past two years. Things that will make me inhibit anyone who I knew actively from buying a HTC phone.

Verizon issues

When I activated U12+ on Verizon, I couldn’t receive SMS messages and had to pass a complex process to get my account to work in LTE position only. Even after that, the MMS has not succeeded and the visual audio post is now disabled on my account. HTC was unable to reproduce this problem, but if any ordinary consumer would face it, this will be a great headache.

Where do you buy, what is in the box, accessories, guarantee, and more

In the United States, U12+ is only available via HTC and Amazon. It will cost you $ 799, and HTC offers a 24 -month payment option. There are 64 and 128 GB, as the latter cost $ 849. The two colors in the United States are black and transparent, and black is only available when purchasing a 64 GB version.

U12+ does not have a headphone socket and does not come with a USB-C adapck to 3.5 mm. You will have to buy it separately, and HTC sells it for $ 12 on its website. The phone comes with a pair of HTC’s USC (it’s somewhat decent), so it will not be completely without headphones if you choose to give up the transformer. Just know that choosing the USB-C headphones in the market is very small at this stage, so these U sronics may be the best bet on a wired headphone anyway if you do not want to deal with the Donation.

U12+ does not have a headphone socket or even includes a 3.5 mm converter per square – you will have to buy one from HTC.

The Quick Charge 3.0 (Charge 3 3) charger is included, as HTC calls it with U12+, although the phone supports and should work well with Qualcomm Charge 4 accredited chargers, and therefore, USB power connection also. I tested this using the Google Pixelbook USB-PD charger and discover the phone properly as a quick shipping source.

Perhaps U12+ will not have much in the way of the ecosystems. There, at the time of writing this report, just a few cases available for U12+ on Amazon, although Spigen fortunately. This is still encouraging, and this phone appears to be unlikely to have many third -party cases, given that HTC may not sell many U12+S.

HTC offers a standard for one year of defects in the United States, and you require you to send mail in U12+ if you need a guarantee service. HTC does not provide a loan device, does not cover any accidental damage, and does not ensure that it will cover the shipping costs. There is no option to make HTC to get an extended guarantee or protect cross damage.

Our ruling: Do you have to buy HTC U12+?

no. Although HTC U12+ is a phone that U11 lovers of HTC may enjoy, it is very defective. It is the best in several ways than the previous HTC, as it offers a set of newer slices, a much better scanner for navigation and fingerprints, and a larger screen with a wide design for domain. The thing is that HTC’s competitors were presenting these things a year ago – HTC plays annex to knee. It is somewhat noted at this stage.

U12+ contains great cameras and amazing design, but the terrible new power buttons, SUBPAR battery life, high prices, and doubtful guarantee support are sufficient for us to say “stay away”.

Although it contains the latest and largest Snapdragon processor, small pieces such as not include a 3.5 mm headphone adapter per square, just make him feel that HTC is no longer tries. The biggest problems – the keys to energy, terrible size, intermediate battery life, and very high price – are what really drowns in this ship. Subpar battery life on the $ 800 in 2018 is not acceptable, especially when you get a large battery like this (3500 mAh). Whatever the performance feature that HTC phones may be in the past years, its phones do not feel soft or good like Google or OnePlus.

A dedicated bomber helps hide some of the Sense’s Staleness, but it has become noticeable how outdated in most of the HTC skin.

But most of them are the “innovative” buttons that HTC easily – it’s very bad, and will make this phone unpleasant to use at any price. Simply setting the sound level on this phone is much more difficult than anyone else you have ever reviewed; This is crazy. I imagine that the rate of U12+ will be high for this reason alone.

The size of the “U12 buttons”+”buttons” are very bad. Even without other faults, this is enough to overcome this phone.

Finally, there is a post -purchase experience. Depending on the emails we have received about the support of the HTC’s guarantee in recent years and really bad classifications on consumer sites, I cannot personally recommend HTC phones. We conducted some investigation into HTC guarantee support, and what we found in depth – read more about it here.

Although it is not a bad smartphone, the U12+ is the phone in which I don’t really see any reason to recommend it. It is sad to see a dominant and innovative company that has a day that is located so far, but HTC has been left behind, and U12+ is not competitive in 2018. Do not receive our recommendation.

Why buy?

  • Large screen, wide respect and modern internal devices.

  • Really excellent rear cameras.

  • Looks beautiful.

Why not?

  • Fake fake strength and size “buttons” will lead you to madness.

  • The battery life is not good.

  • HTC guarantee support is terrible, and you received $ 800 to the privilege of dealing with it.
