Review: Eve’s Energy Strip gives you three homecut-compatible outlets

Eve, a company that produces a homecot-enabled smart home product, launched its latest accessories, The Eve Energy Strip in April.

The Eve Energy Strip provides three homekit outlets, each of which can be controlled independently through EV apps, home apps and series, so that you can smart standard home products and equipment.

Design

According to the design, the Energy Strip felt a bit larger and overwhelming for the three outlet power strips, but it has an attractive and well -made aluminum enclosure with a black plastic top, so it looks sharp enough that it doesn’t need to be hidden. It measures 10.9 inches long, 2.5 inches width and 1.3 inches thick.

The Eve Energy Strip has three good-degraded sockets, which are kept far away that even more than multiple larger power adapters can fit until you care about space. Like most power strips, other outlets are likely to block other outlets depending on the location of oriented power adapters horizontally.

There are index lights for surge protection and grounding on one end with three power buttons and LED status index. Each button has one, two or three points, the power is related to each socket of the strip.

There is a thick 6.3-foot black cable on one end, which is about standard for power strips. .3.5 feet long that it can be placed on the back of a desk or TV stand when is accessible for use. For remote access, including applications and 3 Siri controls, the energy strip is not required to be placed in a completely accessible place.

The standard protection you can expect from the power strip such as overcontant, overvoltage and surge protection.

Overall, it is a great look power strip that is ideal if it is to go to a place where it may be visible. I can move away my power strips and cables in the boxes, but if I have to have a visible power strip I would like a design like this. As I mentioned above, I hope it was even smaller, but a lot under the hood to make the size equitable.

Effectiveness

Each of the three outlets in the energy strip is a homekit-compatible, which means you can add a homecot connection to the three devices that will not be able to control using omehomekita features otherwise.

I already have a lot of devices so I don’t have too much that is not already connected to Homekeet, but if you have a low connected setup, the energy strip is ideal because it provides three outlets to a device. Fans, hoodifier, heater, fancy lamps and other equipment that are usually not able to be able to be connected to Omehomekit is ideal for this type of setup.

In this case, homekitai effectiveness is limited to control and automation, so that it is something to be aware. You will be able to power lamps, tools or other devices through this energy strip using the home applications, Eve applications, or omomekit commands, but no other direct control option.

You can add outlets to the Omomekit scene with other Omehomekiti products and you can set up the automation sheidiul, so you can do something like coming to a fan or turn off the computer at night.

The Energy Strip connects to an OMOMEKITE setup on the WiFi and you will need a 2.4GHz network because it will not be connected to 5GHz. To connect, I had to switch my phone 2.5 GHz and this is always a hassle, especially if you do not have your 2.5 GHz and 5 GHZ networks and easy to connect. On the plus side, since it is a direct Wi-Fi connection, there is no need for the bridge.

In addition to closing/launching devices and adding automation control, the main feature of the power strip is power monitoring. You can say exactly how much energy your devices are taking, their approximate total expenses and how much your devices will cost to run during a year.

Power consumption and expenditure estrics are for the full Eve energy strip, so you can’t see any breakdown for each outlet.

Eve app

The Eve app provides full control over the Energy Strip, allowing you to change its name, set each plug to determine and turn out the outlets for the control of the Siri-1 voice, but you want to verify the EVE app for Appleing In-Application metrics, because that information is not available through the home app or by command.

In the app you can see the power status (if any outlet is turned on or closed), current costs (now energy is being drawn), the total cost (the power drawing over time) (may spend one year on the last week or minute on the basis of the last week) and the total expenditure (till today is the total estimated cost).

Unfortunately, there is no way to break the use of energy on the outlet basis, the application calculates these figures based on the full power drawing of all your items on the eve.

You can see more hours, days, weeks, or months to break up, and if you want, export the power usage to another app from each day.

The estimate of the total expenditure can also be broken between hours, days, weeks and months so that you can see the estimates of your pre -expenditure in a way that makes you most meaningful.

In my preceding, the app assumes a lamp and a computer estimated that it has cost $ 0.14 for me last week or more and will spend about $ 16 to run the whole year. These total are calculated at an estimated cost per country and customized in the settings of the Eve app.

Each kilowatt hour is spent on the location, so you would like to customize this setting. Here in California, we provide every kilowatt hour around 19.82 cents, in other states, this rate is much lower.

Home app

When it comes to Eve Energy Strip, the home app controls are limited. You can turn or turn off each separate outlet in-app using toggles, but it is almost what you can do.

You can also change the names of the outlets, change their houses, they can change what they identify and do other similar management things but you can’t see the power use.

In both the home app and the Eve app, you can automate outlets to come at a certain time and include them in the homekit scene with other omomekit products.

Siri

‌ Serie ‌ Controls are limited to turning on or closing each separate outlet and power status, if a specific outlet is turned on or closed, alias.

Bottom line

If you have a few non-homicit devices that you want to hook up your smart home setup, the Eve Energy Strip is a good way to do this.

If you want to make sure that a particular tool is not drawing too much energy or using energy when the energy is stopped, it makes ideals for suspected tools like fans, computers and many more.

Veenergystripdesign2Veenergystripdesign2
It is useful to be able to control each outlet individually in the homekeit, because you can turn off an item plugged in without affection, which is usually not possible with a standard power strip.

Eve Energy Strip is about to spend more than expensive and separate homecut-enable smart plugs, but it is one of the few homecut-enabled power strip options in the market.

How to buy

The Eve Energy Strip can be purchased from Amazon for $ 99.95.
