Free review: real wireless earphones that do not break the bank

Quick links

The real wireless ear headphones have witnessed a significant increase in popularity over the past two years, as products have reached a price point and a level of quality that make them viable purchases for the prevailing consumers. The IFA 2018 show was full of new models of various brands, and it has already reviewed two producers in the past two months.

Earin M – 2 ($ 249) and Master & Dynamic MW07 ($ 299) were distinguished producers with huge price marks, but now it’s time to try something a little easier on the wallet. AI MOBVOI is famous for its TICWATCH smartphones, but it has previous experience with the sound as well. Tichome Mini is a good battery loudspeaker, which gives me hope that TicPods Free also impresses. At a price of $ 129.99, it is much cheaper than many other options there, to undermine the air hood everywhere at $ 30. They collected 5362 % of the Indiegogo campaign ($ 2.8 million), so let’s see if the 22,615 bids are making the right call.

Goodness

Sound quality

Although the mind does not explode, it looks fit enough to look at the price.

A/V Sync

Mobovoi improves the lack of a noticeable sound when watching videos.

Battery life

4 hours announced accurate, 18, including the case, which compares positively with their competitors much more expensive.

design

Others try to avoid visual comparison with AirPods, adopting TicPods, and daring to improve, improving aesthetic.

Not very good

Controls

Less intuitive than other similar products – MobVOI tried a lot.

communication

I have suffered from dropouts sometimes in places with a lot of signal pollution, such as on the tube (underground London).

issue

I love the small size, but the hinges of the cover feel a little high and the ear lines are somewhat embarrassing. It is also a shameful thing to see the MicroUSB port instead of type C.

Design, devices, what is in the box

So let’s get out of the road first – the inspiration of the free design of TicPods comes clearly from AirPods from Apple, which is especially clear if you go to the white style instead of blue or red. There are some practical reasons for this, such as touch control and microphone mode. For me, Ticpods is attractive, and I appreciate the raised lines that match the stem of the earphones and the case cover. Among the three colors available, I am more conservative with the marine number I was using – it’s a nice change of black. Another reason is that STEM is that I really think it is important for people to see that you wear earphones and do not ignore it or be intentionally rude.

The issue is fine, although I think the cover joint can be a little more stable. It seems to be as if it could start with a single false movement, but we hope it will be more durable than it appears. The situation is smaller than those offered by other manufacturers, so you should not face a problem in installing most of the pockets. In the retail box, there is also a guaranteed loop belt and a short charging cable containing both USB-C and Micro-Usb (used by TicPods) versus USB-A. It is one of the ways to solve the problem “I just want to carry one cable”, assume. There was only one set of backup tips, with a smaller size, so it is better not to lose the largest models if they suit you better. I prefer to have foam, but it is not a flagrant omission of the price.

Features, sound and battery life

I am pleased to inform you that Ticpods has a sign of most features. It is good and isolation and cancel the negative noise to filter a good amount of other sounds, which is resistant to the spot (IPX5). They also have touch control items. I am actually the best touch of physical buttons, but touch is the prevailing choice between manufacturers so I preferred to do so.

Unfortunately MobVOI controls, unfortunately than other earphones. Pass up and down on any of the buds that change the sound level. On each of the ear headphones, double -click songs and answers/ends of calls, and the long -call pressure refuses. Long pressure can also stop/play on the left bud, or call the sound assistant in the right bud (Google Assistant, Alexa, or Siri – that’s right, working with iPhone as well). There is an educational curve with these controls, and I think it could have been avoided by sliding the size on only one side, allowing one sans on the other side and general simplification.

MicroUSB shipping is a simple complaint to I, but it will disturb some people more.

The sound quality is always the most important factor when judging a sound product, and TicPods is very surprising. The sound is relatively well balanced, although it lacks slightly to the bright. There are a lot of details, and although they cannot compete with elegant competitors, I do not think that there are no many complaints about the sound profile. I must note that the sound level is lower than other models that I recently reviewed. It is classified on 95 decibels, which is higher than the recommended listening level, so this may indicate that I usually listen to my music very loud.

TicPods next to Earin M – 2, Jabra Elite Sport and Master & Dynamic MW07.

Other features that need to mention AAC include support for SBC-La APTX here-and excellent ear discovery. You just have to take out one of the earphones and anything you play will be temporarily stopped; It will be restarted when replaced. Until recently, the real wireless ear headphones are not very good in synchronizing sound with the video, but like other recent efforts, TicPods is not flawed in this regard. Another additional point for ICPods is the quality of the connection. Since the microphones are at the end of the trunk, and therefore closer to my mouth, the receivers have been able to hear me almost clearly as possible.

Mobovoi announces 4 hours of listening time from one fee, with a total of 18 hours when you include additional juice in the case. This was mostly examined in the test, and the Ticpods placed equally with more expensive groups and multiplying many others. It is only 40 minutes to charge it as well. If you are wondering, Mobovoi has an application to use with its various products. In the case of TicPods, it is simply a place to update fixed programs or view the user guide with educational GIF images.

Should you buy it?

maybe. The free ticPods left a good impression during the test. I have tried more expensive pairs than Earin and Master & Dynamic may have benefited from Mobovoi; Although these cannot compete for the sound on its own, it is not very far away in most other regions.

Certainly, there were cross communication problems, and they come with the oldest Bluetooth 4.2 standard, but this is still common in this category. More importantly, it looks completely good, and has a lot of features that you may not expect at $ 130 – in addition to that you will be able to get it cheaper on Black Friday or during the holiday season. If you can bear more, something like Rha TrueConnect may be proven ($ 170) that it is a better option (looking for our next review), but you will feel difficult to find something good as Ticpods for the same low price.

Buy if …

You want real wireless earphones with a full feature with a decent sound and a good battery life comes at a reasonable price.

Do not buy if …

You are an audible feature with a larger budget, you want something that does not look like AirPod.
