The new Mac Studio with M4 Max and M3 Ultra Chip will turn on tomorrow. Earlier, the device’s first reviews were divided by selected publications and YouTube channels.
The desktop computer is the first M2 Max and M22 Ultra Chip options after the update on June 2023, the first MAC studio refresh. The overall design of the machine has not changed. Depending on the configuration, the front of the computer has two Thunderbolt 5 or USB-C port and there is an SD card slot, while the rear side has four Thunderbolt 5 ports, an HDMI port, a 10-gigabit ethernet port, two USB-A port, one headphone jack, one power connector and one power button.

M4 Max Chip

M3 Ultra Chip
The All-Natun M3 Ultra Chip has a 32-core CPU up to 24 performance core and eight skills core and an 80-core GPU. Apple says that the M3 Ultra Chip is up to 1.5x faster than the M3 Ultra Ultra Chip in the previous M3-Studio, which is up to 24-core CPU. The graphics performance is up to 2x faster than the previous MAC studio with the M22 Ultra Chip, which was available to 72-core GPU. M3 Ultra Chip supports Unified RAM up to 512 GB, where M22 Ultra is the maximum out of Unified RAM in 192 GB. VirzIts Chris Welch:
M3 Ultra Chip is overcol for many. If you need this level of power, you already know exactly how you get the most from it. This is for visual effect artists and animators. It is working to produce ambitious audio and video for professionals. Are you doing regular large medical datasets crunching? And the development of AI continues to develop, with 256 GB or 512 GB memory kit -out configurations can prove anyone who is interested in operating locally sophisticated LLM models on their machine.

Although it is the level of over-generation updates of Apple’s generation, which makes this studio refresh weird. Lower-End Studio got an M4 MAX processor as you hoped-the same Chip Apple sells in its high-last MacBook professionals but fits a desktop instead of laptop. However, the top-end studio gets an M3 Ultra instead of the M4 Ultra. It is still a huge growth in the CPU and the GPU core (and there are also other specific facilities), but it seems to be the expensive studio less than one step.
Thunderbolt 5 and enhanced external display support
Following the moves of MAC MCBOOK Pro and Mac Mini models with M4 Pro and M4 MAX Chips, MAC Studio now supports Thunderbolt 5. MAC Mac Studios with M4 Max Chip has four Thunderbolt 5 ports in configuration and Six Thunderbolt 5 ports in configuration with M3 Ultra Chip. Thunderbolt 5 120 GB/S Data provides transfer speed. Although our M4 M4 MAX USB-C ports are capable of transmitting up to 10GBP/second, Thunderbolt 5 ports are theoretically capable of achieving up to 120 GB/sec under some conditions. And the Thunderbolt 4 (80 Gbps vs 40 Gbps) has been specified for providing double bandwidth capacity at Standard UJ Thunderbolt 5, which means that it can transfer data faster than its predecessors.

Alternatively, our M4 MAX review unit can support a single 8k/60 Hz display while the M3 Ultra version may support four 8k/60 Hz display. So if you want to be a future 8K the future against the future, the new Mac Studio has covered you.
If I consider buying one of these mac in 2021, I would be more interested in creating the final workstation by investing in great Thunderbolt 5 dock with a great display (in fact, I can live without speed of Thunderbolt 5 for my exhibition) and a great Thunderbolt SSD for fasting around.
And obviously, the Thunderbolt 5 gear is still rare in the market that the standard was introduced in 2023. You can now buy 8K display and 8K TV, the fact is 8K content only starts reaching the smaller doses in 2023 and it is still very rare on Mac apps and streaming services.
So even though the Thunderbolt 5 port on the most powerful Mac desktop is great for the first time, you are not the biggest reason to upgrade if you are not really encouraged to invest in lots of Thunderbolt 5 accessories.
