Should you buy it? Classification 7.0/10
Installing a set of smart house upgrades becomes expensive, which is why we are always excited when conscious Wyze launches a new device. From the cameras connected to the Internet, to security sensors, to smart ports and even lamps, Wyze has been able to prove themselves in the new product categories over and over again (well, with cross -road hiccups). Now the smart lock market is treated, with the appropriate Wyze Lock version. How will you compare the most expensive solutions? Let’s take a look.
Goodness
stabilizing |
Not only is it very easy, but also a friend of tenants, allowing you to keep the original lock devices in place. |
design |
A clean, utilitarian look with some smart functional elements. |
Pricing |
Even with the high cost of $ 89 to $ 99 (although requests can currently get the low price), this is a affordable cost to receive your locks. |
Features |
Wyze provides some decent functions, from sharing access to automatic operation, all easy to configure. |
Not very good
Keyboard |
I don’t like dealing with the keyboard as optional, especially with the type of automatic features we have here. I am also not a big fan of its design, and we still don’t know anything about pricing. |
Sometimes defects |
Wyze devices can sometimes get a little shaken, and some problems have faced here, such as when the calibration door sensor lost and thought it was always open, or when the lock gate has just stopped. All this has been resolved quickly, but this is a smart lock, still makes me feel anxious. |
Battery life |
I feel that this may be associated with these defects, but the battery life was horrific. Just two months after operation, the AA batteries fell to only 7 %. |
Design, devices, what is in the box
There are a lot of different ways to build a smart lock, and it seems that the biggest question is “How old is your old lock that you want to keep?” At one end of the spectrum, you have devices like NUKI that keeps you 100 % closed, and communicate externally. At the other end, there is something like an Schlage, which replaces the entire old lock devices.
Wyze solution is located somewhere in the middle: You can keep your external devices, and you can continue to use your key, but the Wyze lock replaces the internal Deadbolt thumb.
The lock itself has a solid metal body, with a prominent thumb on its own. The magnetic face plate hides the unit -running 4AA batteries, and easily gets rid of access. There are not many increased devices, but all you need here, including a rear slice, three transformers to connect your Wyze lock your interior of the lock, and even a useful piece of tape to hold the old lock in place during installation.
In addition to all of this, there is also the Wyze Lock gate, the axis that connects the lock itself to the rest of your network.
You find somewhatHere near your Wyze lock to install its gate and get the smart lock online.
Preparation and installation
Start with a Wyze lock incredibly clear and direct. To start, you dismantled the inner side of the current Deadbolt (using this tape you just mentioned to keep a little safe). Then by using these same screws that you install on the adjustable back plate, and keep the arrow “up” … well, you can guess where it should indicate.
The application then speaks by selecting any of the colored transformers that you will need to distribute your lock devices with Wyze’s. This can be the most intimidated part of the preparation, but a good guide with a lot of useful images helps you walk without painful.
These bow screws instead of your old thumb. Wyze lock transformers help work with your current devices.
However, in place in place, you can inhibit the Wyze lock body on the plate, and I have finished largely on the side of the devices. The application will talk to you by connecting to the portal and your Wi -Fi, as well as the process of calibrating the lock sensors, which allows it to discover when opening and closing the door.
Optionally, you can also install the Wyze Lock keyboard – or at least you will be able to do so, as soon as it is available in May. The keyboard is operated by two battery AA and escalates wherever you want its embedded bow. It provides a single-touch lock, LED background lighting, and supports 4-8 numbers. I hope that the design is the most familiar with the diseases of three columns, instead of the two we get, and that the entire unit was somewhat thinner.
Software and functions
Once prepared, a Wyze lock appears in the Wyze app alongside your cameras and ports and the rest of the company’s equipment. The main view gives you a quick/non -insured indicator, and click by dragging your main lock interface with a locking/lock cancellation, door opening condition, and modern locking record.
The main lock interface is the composition of the options; Delaying the automatic stoppage.
In addition to locking the door and locking it through this screen, the application also provides optional automatic options. The automatic lock is discovered when the door is closed, as well as, you can guess the rest. This can be formed immediately, or in a time delay of an hour. The feature works well, although the “simultaneous lock option” can be somewhat aggressive if you close the door very slowly. But frankly, I was imprisoned without my phone several times to trust myself to use this at all.
There is also an arrogant position that Geofencing is used to sensing when returning home. This was a little necessary for me, and sometimes failed to open it upon my return. But at least, since its operation requires your phone to be on you, you can always lock manually with the app.
Determine the restrictions of the guest symbol; Choose alarm options; Construction of notifications
To stay at the top of what is going on with your Wyze lock, the app offers lock notes and note, and there are optional warnings of things like leaving the door wide open for a long time – some nice rewards.
As we just expect a smart lock, you can share the access to a Wyze lock with other people. The main way to do this is through the application: you can insert a person email, and they will get an invitation, then they are able to control your lock through the Wyze app on his own phone.
If you come across the Wyze Lock keyboard (when it appears), you also have the option to set the symbols for your guests. These can be permanent, use once, or work on any schedule you want.
On the surface, everything looks well about what Wyze lock does, but I noticed a thread of unexpected behavior that reduces my confidence in the product, and prevents it from getting a higher degree. First, it was an inconsistent behavior of the closed sensor of the door. Although I managed to calibrate the sensor and use it at the beginning, after a week or so, it begins to think about the door running continuously. Returning this repair, but the problem has been repeated several times.
This alone is a more inconvenience than it is a categorical, but I am concerned that it leads a separate and greater problem: the battery life I have noticed from the Wyze lock is far from what I promised.
Wyze claims that users should see 5-6 months of operation on a set of 4 AA batteries. I am almost mid -road during this time frame, and my batteries are currently 7 %. This is particularly surprising because I was using Schlage for a little longer than a Wyze lock, which also uses 4 AA batteries, but connects to WiFi directly, instead of external center like Wyze. So, while the Schloj lock should eat a lot of strength, its batteries are still 41 %. There is no good reason that the Wyze lock must use this many power. I hope to update the program in the end solve the problem of this door sensor, as the battery life may also improve.

Wise lock
certainly. From the collection of features, to devices design, to a very attractive price, there is a lot you like in the Wyze lock. This could have been a real model of bones, but Wees really climbed with small additions-just as I was out of the night and realized that I forgot my door lock, but thanks to the discovery of the lock position and the application record, I could see that no one tried to open it, and gave me some mental comfort.
I really hope that the keyboard did not feel like a later idea, and I am concerned about the stability of software and the result that threatens to prove that it is a doubtful battery life. Even with these issues, this is generally thoughtful, and it is largely well implemented, and ultimately a great value in a smart lock.
