With the start of the Galaxy S20 thousand dollar series, many Samsung fans who suffer from financial distress in more upgrade options may think this year. Apparently, this Samsung expected this (and if it doesn’t happen, it is certain now known), because it makes more lower and medium squads in the United States more than ever. Not only did the price reduction in the S10 series last year while continuing to sell it alongside the S20, but also appeared for the first time in the Galaxy S10 Lite in America, adding more options to the growing smartphone portfolio. But Samsung has been dug deeper into the O ‘phones, with Galaxy A51 and A71 medium -term and medium -range. I received $ 400 Galaxy A51 for review, and I think it may be one of the most powerful budgets that you can buy now.

Goodness

an offer

The screen is huge, which is the AMOLED panel. You cannot order more on a medium -term phone.

performance

Treat the Exynos processor with 4 GB RAM and usual games.

Carrier

While the Galaxy A51 is available directly from transport companies such as AT & T and Verizon, the unbelievable version is compatible with all major American transport companies (Verizon, AT & T, Sprint and T-Mobile).

Not very good

Cameras

The main camera produces muddy images, and other lenses are not better.

design

While the Galaxy A51 is generally designed well, the glossy plastic back attracts fingerprints and skewers much easier than glass.

Design, devices, what is in the box

From the outside, most people will be pressed to notice the difference between this and the Galaxy S20 series. The large 6.5 -inch AMOLED screen is larger than the Galaxy S20, but it is smaller than the screen on the S20+. The camera hole is located in the upper center of the screen, and even the camera’s row is similar to the S20.

The large screen is likely to be the best Galaxy A51 feature. It has a high accuracy enough for a $ 400 phone, and that the AMOLED plate means that blacks are completely black and the colors are alive. I am not difficult to satisfy it terribly when it comes to the quality of the AMOLED panel and color balance, but I think most of them will agree that the screen looks good. There is also a fingerprint scanner, which appears to be using a visual sensor instead of ultrasound on the S20 series, but it is still working well in my test.

However, there are some key differences in design. The outer part of the Galaxy A51 is completely plastic, and I usually like it (I hate large glass phones), but Samsung chose a completely glossy coating Love Fingerprints. When the back is not completely disgusting, it gives a slight aura effect – somewhat similar to Note10, but not to this extent. There is no support for wireless charging, or water/dust protection, but still gets NFC support.

Another exit from the pioneering samsung is the presence of a headphone socket. Most budget phones have not laughed at a 3.55 conductor yet, but I am still happy to see them here.

By moving to the internal devices, Galaxy A51 Samsung uses Exynos 9611 SOC, instead of Qualcomm or Mediaatek chips most other phones in this price range. It is paired with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, and you can add MicroSD cards up to 512 GB more. This is true, this phone of $ 400 has more internal storage than the cheapest pixel 4.

In the box, you get the phone, a USB Type-A-TO-C, and a 15W wall charger.

Software, performance and battery

The software experience on the Galaxy A51 is very similar to what you will find in the last pioneer Samsung: Android 10 with UI 2.1 leather allocated above. This means that you are getting a dark system at the system level, narrow integration with Windows 10 computers, automation (limited) with Bixby procedures, and all custom Samsung applications. However, I noticed that the screen recorder on the other UI 2.0 devices is missing here.

One user interface is not a cup of tea for everyone, but I do not have many complaints – it adds useful functions to those who want it, but does not break the basic functions of Android system like some other manufacturers’ skins. I hope it can be disabled or uninstalled by some Samsung alternatives for Google applications. You do not need two calendar applications.

When talking about applications that I do not need, the Verizon unit that I received for review came with a lot of applications and games that were pre -installed. In addition to the usual Microsoft applications that Samsung always attends with its devices, Verizon included a handful of account management tools, Disney+, Candy Crush Soda, many Yahoo applications, Apple Music, EBY, and others. Finally, Verizon A51 came with four email applications: Gmail, Samsung Mail, Outlook and Yahoo Mail. This should not be a problem with unintended models.

There is still something there is nothing

Performance, at least, good. The 10nm Exynos 9611 processor in this model is almost faster like Snapdragon 600-Series chips from Qualcomm, so the applications open quickly, and 4GB RAM means that the switch between applications is not a big problem. While the Galaxy A51 and Pixel 3A are closely corresponding to raw performance, animation is not equally like butter on A51 as it is on pixels 3A.

The battery life is also a high point for the A51. Although it is difficult to test the battery of the smartphone carefully with the current Coronavirus virus clips, I usually ended every day with a 50 % battery survival with the usual mix of social media examination, responding to emails/messages, and watching videos on YouTube. A large 4000 mAh battery definitely comes within reach.

Cameras

Galaxy A51 has a total of three rear cameras (in addition to one depth sensor), 32 -megapixel front lens. The main camera is 48 megapixels, with F2.0 slot, generally produced Completely results. Pictures look good when displayed on the phone screen, but Samsung images processing causes the images to look like watercolors when they are enlarged – any totally accurate details are lost. Pixel 3A is definitely the winner here.

There is also a wide -angle camera, but as with most of the widely intended corner lenses on smartphones, it is a quality reduction of the main lens (12 MP versus 48 MP). You can get some pictures well if used in the open air, but anything else results in a muddy image.

Finally, there is a 5 -megapixel micro lens, I had no idea until I went to the Samsung website to check some details – its button is hidden by the camera application. I love micro photography, so I enjoyed some fun here, but the macro lens on this phone Not. The constant focus is very narrow (about 3-5 mm), so you have to approach your topic.

Should you buy it? Rating 8/10

Samsung Galaxy A51

It depends. Galaxy A51 is a good budget phone, and I think anyone who buys it will be happy with it. However, the Android -range market is very competitive.

Pixel 3A is less than the A51 at the present time, but it provides better performance for the camera and monthly safety updates for the next two years (although the screen is smaller and there is less storage). There is also the Moto G Stylus to consider, which costs $ 100 less than Galaxy A51 and has a similar collection, and Pixel 4A is close to the version.

If you know you want the Samsung phone, your budget is narrow, the Galaxy A51 is a great option. However, Pixel 3A is still my favorite Android phone.

Purchase it if:

  • You want a new Samsung phone, but you can’t/don’t want to pay the price of the S10 or S20.

  • You are looking for an average phone with a huge AMOLED screen.

Do not buy it if:

  • You want the best possible pictures-get 3A pixels instead.

  • You love small phones.
