Review: Chamber Line’s Mikeu Garage and Home Bridge Add Homekit Support at the door of your garage

by red

Back in January at CES, a hardware hub MYQ HOME Bridge announced a plan to allow the company’s attached garage openers to work with the homekit at the company’s MYQ Ecosystem. The MYQ Home Bridge was supposed to be launched initially in April, but it was a bit pushed back to the home of these types of products to achieve the homecut certificate, and a brief quiet was introduced earlier this month, which was just an official introduction yesterday.

Your existing garage door opener for MYQ Home Bridge supports Mikeu Wireless connection already by three methods: Use Mikee Wi-Fi Support in Opener, a non-smart garage Door Open or connected to a MYQ Garage Hub using Mikeu Internet Gateway. -Wi-Fi connection for the opener.

I owned a Chamberline Chain Drive Dore door opener since the 21st, but it does not include any MYQ technology, so I needed installing two separate hardware to add homecit support to my setup: a Micau garage Fi support for Basic Wi and Then the new Mikeu Home Bridge to add the consistency of the homecut.

In addition to the announcement of the original MYQ Home Bridge in January, Chamberline also published a smart garage hub that will integrate both the MYQ Garage and the MYQ Home Bridge function into a single piece of hardware. The smart garage hub was originally planned in July, but the Chamberline told me that its introduction was delayed and the company still not sharing any new target date for it.

Working with my current dumb garage door opener, the first step was to install my opener to get my opener online. It was a simple, straightforward process that took about 15 minutes. The system uses a number of screws to attach a metal bracket to the ceiling in the general surrounding of the garage door opener, at least two feet away from the opener but still stands in the garage door opening.

An individual door sensor is attached to the velcro strip or screws in the top panel of the garage door. The general sensor notify the orientation of the censor whether the door is above or below the Mikeu Garage Hub wirelessly notify. It runs on the replaceable CR 2450 button battery.

The rest of the setup occurs in the Chamberline Mikeu application, for which you need to create an MYQ account and you instruct you to connect to the MYQ Garage via Bluetooth to share your device’s Wi-Fi settings during setup. When the Mikeu Garage is online, the app goes through the opener’s program button to pair the myQ garage with your opener, checking the door sensor contact with the original hub and gives you the name of your opener on the MYQ system.

The app is not particularly beautiful and it is not fully favorable for the recently screened iPhones, but it completes the work. It supports the Touch ID, so it is easy to authenticate your Mikeu account certificates whenever you open the app. The app easily lets you see your garage door opener (s) and their current status, as well as how long they were open or closed. Pressing the app on the app will increase or reduce it.

From the protection, it is important to note that the garage door is inherently dangerous, because the children who are not paying attention to the door are sometimes injured or killed. As a result, modern garage door openers are equipped with censors, which is landing the door, identifying if there is anything below the garage door at the ground level, automatically reverse the door when a barrier is detected. Garage door opener guidelines manuals encourage users to visually supervise the door to ensure safe operation.

Since the attached garage door openers can be operated remotely through the application and thus without visual confirmation of safe operation, the warning signal is included just before the door is closed. The garage door on the app is tapped in a few seconds, as a result of high-pitched beeping, with flashing from the Micue Garage Hub before the door starts down, with bright white light.

Audio and visual alerts warn someone around the door that the door will land, and the whole time the door continues for the whole period of closing. This is an important security feature, but it means that if you can avoid using the app to close the door at certain times, for example, located directly under a bedroom where one can sleep.

Caution and Schedule

Chamberline MYQ app allows you to set up alert and schedule for your garage door, ensuring that you are up to date at your door stability and allow you to automatically confirm that the door is closed every night.

With warning, you can choose to receive them through Push Notification, Email or both, and you can be warned whenever your garage door is open or closed. Options only allow you to be careful to be careful at a certain day and time, as well as whether the event becomes as soon as you want to be notified after the period of time.

For example, if the garage door is open for more than an hour, you can simply set up a warning to notify. With multiple alerts, you can account for your daily schedule, such as instant alert during the work day when someone is not expected to stay home, but only one hour or other days is likely to be in the house when people are likely to be Around

Schedule by name allows you to set up a certain time of the day (every day or only specific day of the week) to close the door. For the garage door, only the door is supported, so you cannot set the garage door to open a specific schedule within the MYQ application.

If you have other devices like the remote lights integrated with your Mikeu system, you can also determine them to turn on or turn off them. Even without a homekit, the schedules are a great way to make sure that your garage door is closed in the evening before going to bed and you can get confirmation through email or push notification.

Chamberline’s MYQ system supports integration with Nest (with the ability to adjust nest thermostats and watch the nest camera video) as well as smart home integration via XFinity Home, Wink and IFTTT.

Mikeu Home Bridge

If you are lucky you have a already built of MYQ Support in a garage door opener and you can start the process of integrating it here with homekit. Similarly, if you already have an MYQ internet gateway, you will be able to replace it with the Mikeu Home Bridge. And if you are just like me you have just crossed the process of installing a Mikeu garage and now you are ready to install your second hardware box.

The Mikeu Home Bridge is very similar to the installation Mikeu Garage, using the same style brackets and then slides the bridge over the bracket, plugged it in and wrap the extra cord around the bracket.

The Chamberline MYQ application can walk you by setting up the bridge with the myQ and homekit systems. It only takes a few steps, then you will need to reset your Mikeu Garage or Mikeu-enabled opener to transfer through the bridge.

When it is over, you can control the door to your garage by using Apple’s Home App or using Siri, or you can continue using the Chamberline MYQ app to control the door.

Homekit support means that you can include the door to your garage in the home app scene, as your home is secure, the lights have turned into and the thermostat is adjusted during bedtime.

Up to wrap

The MYQ Home Bridge is available at the start of $ 49.99 from the Chamber Line’s website, raising prices at any time in the future to increase $ 69.99. If you need to add a Mikeu garage, it is an additional $ 129.99 from the chamberline, though some retailers like Amazon may be at a lower price at $ 99. Regardless of whether your garage door is already supported by MYQ is a good part of the change, it is enough to break me about whether it is worth the cost.

The MYQ app may also use some updates. It usually works well but its lack of larger-screen optimization leads to a large-scale status bar, keyboard and date/time pickers, and there is really no excuse that there is no excuse that the app is greater not fully updating the app There is no excuse for not fully updating the app for the screens, most of the iPhone purchased in the last three years.

But I must admit that the door to the garage is a great addition to my homekit setup, and if my opener was already enabled and I just had to spend $ 50 for the Mikeu Home Bridge, it would not be a brain. With the homekit integration and other consistent devices around the house you can easily set up scenes and triggers associated with your garage door opener to maximize your protection and convenience. The garage door is closed as part of a “goodnight” scene that turns off the lights and adjusts the thermostat, or when you open the garage door it is very easy to do things like working on the other lights on the house

If you are all in the Homecit Integration and already have a Micu-enabled garage door, the new Micue Home Bridge is a suitable purchase. However, if you have an old opener that needs to be installed both a Mikeu Garage and a Mikeu Home Bridge, I will probably hold a little longer until the smart home bridge announced by integrating both functions into a single box. It should be facilitated installation and setup and hope that two separate hardware boxes will come at a cheaper total price than buying.
