Vinpok Split Review: Uninterrupted Porttack screen

Quick links

Like an increasing number of people, I do all my work on a laptop. When I am at home, it is overall on my office, connected to a large fixed screen. When I take the width on the road, I find that I miss the comfort of two screens at my disposal. The lowest real estate to work with more switch between tabs and windows, which makes the workflow in general.

So from a conceptual point of view, I find that Fenbuk divides the seductive. It is a portable touch screen, 15.6 inches, 1080 pixels that connect to the laptop either via HDMI or USB-C. I am not the only fascinated: I raised the Indiegogo product campaign, which initially set $ 5,000, approximately $ 2 million since October. Although I cannot deny the tool and the great factor of the thing, its very sharp price makes it difficult to recommend most people.

Design and devices

Vinpok division under Pixelbook. Power button, mobile connection, and one USB-C port on the left edge.

I have always felt that the displays should be harmless so that they are almost invisible, and that the division of Vinpok is definitely harmless. The front side dominates the 15.6 -inch touch screen, with a very narrow black frame at the top and sides, and one inch is about one inch at the bottom. You will find semi -glossy plastic with a kind of carbon fiber style. At the bottom of the left edge, there are controls, which consist of one button pulling a dual duty as again in the menus and energy in/turning off multi -purpose connections to adjust the sound and other settings. There is also one of the two USB-C outlets. The opposite edge includes other USB-C inputs, the Mini-HDMI port, and a headphone socket.

These two USB port are a little scratch at first. One on the right edge is for data and delivery of energy, while the left is only energy. The literature contained in Dlish Classes Out, but the ports are not classified on the device, and I do not think it is unreasonable to expect two physically identical work on one device to work in the same way.

Using Pixelbook, the Confused USB cable provides energy and A/V to divide, even without connected to an energy source. I managed to use the two devices like this for about three hours before you need to connect it. If you are using a USB-C device, you will have to contact the HDMI-To-MINI-HDMI cable, as well as connect the screen to a power source using USB-C. This is a little annoying, because the division does not come with the wall adapter.

My review unit included a kickestand magnetic cap over the back of the back of the screen, and support it when it is in use and stirring to protect the screen when it is not. Protection is important because it is like the surrounding edges, the shiny plastic screen. This is good to avoid fingerprints, but it is bad for durability; Plastic scratches are much easier than glass. This decisive supplier is not included in the basic price of $ 399, either – it will be an additional $ 39 once the SPLIT group financing campaign (although you can secure one for $ 19 if you get your request now).

This is a very lightweight offer. The right side includes a headphone socket, another USB-C port, and the Mini-HDMI port.

Screen and speakers

Despite the choices of doubtful materials, the screen is completely valid. No one will explode away, and 1080 pixels, in my opinion, a low end, acceptable to the screen of this size, but the viewing angles are good, and after some absurdity, the color is immediately accurately (my unit was distorted with a warm touch of the box, but it was easy enough to correct it). You can adjust all the settings you expect to access on the screen: contrast, color balance, sharpness, etc. There is even a blue light ribbon. The screen is a little dim, though, as it exceeds 280 inspiring networks.

As a touch plate, the division works well on OS Chrome. It responds to touch without a noticeable delay, and even multi -touches gestures like making a pinch to Zoom in the way that should be. On the pre-USB-C MacBook Pro, Touch Entering both HDMI and USB connections, which is Janky to the point of uselessness. A powered style like Pixelbook Pen and Apple Pencil is not compatible, either – not surprising, but still shame.

Unfortunately, speakers are not good. It is calm, and they have a bass response, and they are distorted largely from the size of the maximum. You can only adhere to the loudspeakers of the laptop (or use headphones).

Should you buy it?

Maybe not, Unless you can get it at the low -supporting price. I have been using the division widely over the past few weeks, and I love it – I can see myself taking it on a working vacation to stimulate some of my rooms in the hotel. But for $ 400 ($ 440, if you buy a full magnetic pregnant woman, it is difficult to recommend. It is only Screen, although it is undoubtedly good, it is not particularly impressive. The presence of similar products available from the most firm manufacturers such as ASUS and Dell does not help for less money.

Distinguished back.

In addition to a second screen for your mobile phone station, you can use the division as a display of gaming devices, including the Nintendo key (without a berth, even, although the third -party video devices were known to damage the system). This is another use case that I can imagine to benefit from – but it still does not sell me on the device at a full demand price. It also works as an external monitoring of some smartphones, but just a handful of Samsung and Huawei. I do not have any of these to test, and connect it to other phones. It will only demand Not message.

The division of Vinpok is very carried, and there is no doubt that it is elegant. If it is the only product of its kind on the market, then I say it may be suitable for a certain type of people, but it is not without competition. It is a little cheap as well, and to get a comprehensive Completely 15.6 -inch screen, $ 400 is just a big order.

Buy if:

  • You want a portable screen and you can get a group financing discount.

  • You don’t want to support other companies that make similar products.

  • You have a burning money and you love great things like this.

Do not buy if:

  • You cannot get the low price.

  • It was not Need A second portable screen.

If you want to get a Vinpok division, you can check the device’s Indiegogo page – even writing, there are still a few of the available reduced units.
