Continue the series of our keyboard reviews, we look at the portable, foldable Jono keyboard once. Jorno made his debut in Kickstarta in 2002 and after a few years of refining and design changes, the keyboard began to send to customers on March 27.
Jorno’s appearance is quite different than the original concept presented in 2002, but the primary concept is the same-it is a tri-weed Bluetooth keyboard that falls for better bearing. Jorno’s name herald the design of the keyboard, which is folded for travel when folded with the Molluscine journal.
Box and setup is what
Jono ships in a compact box that include the keyboard itself, the cover/stand that holds it and a USB cable to charge. It takes a few seconds to set up Jorno. When it is revealed, it is driven (such as indicated by green light) and the Bluetooth can be activated by holding the function and tap the Bluetooth key (“C”).
From there, it pair the iPhone or iPad settings like any other Bluetooth accessories.
Design
Jono is a bile-piece accessories with a separate stand instead of a curaty keyboard and keyboard case, so it is able to work with broad devices including iPhone, iPad and other smartphones and tablets. The main component of Jorno is the keyboard itself, which shrinks and it can be folded in a 5.7 by 3.5 inch pack that is covered by the case/stand for travel.
When Jono is not used, the stand like black leather acts as a case, but when you need to type something, it is folded in the form of a triangle kept together by the magnet, much like the iPad smart cover. The bottom of a small plastic lip ensures that an iPhone or an iPad is in place and the magnets that keep them all together are not at risk of reading anything is strong enough. Since it is just a simple stand, Jorne’s case can be typing, watching video and having a landscape or an iPad in portrait mode for more.
At the bottom of the stand, there is a plastic leg that can be pulled and the view of an iPad or iPhone can be set in different positions to slightly change. The whole lip of the case does not slide, but what the small part does is strong enough to hold the iPad Air 2.
Built from aluminum and plastic, the Zoro keyboard itself is light and 6.51 ounces are easy to carry. The aluminum outer part of the keyboard is a dark -silver color (similar to the space gray iPhone/iPad), while the plastic keys and keyboard are black. There are two hinges on the Jorno keyboard to allow it to fold it, folding the interior in the middle when both sides collapsed.
Due to the wrists, the Jorno keyboard is not completely flat on a desk or table so it goes back a bit while you type, a reason that may be annoying. The wrists prevent it from using it in the lap – when the wrists are not supported on the flat surface, they are folded inside because they do not lock in place. The wrist folding process takes just a few seconds to fold/explode the jano keyboard and stands while standing for it to be prepared to save or use it.
Aesthetically, the entire Jorno package is compact and offensive. The keyboard like the stand has a simple no-frill design but the keyboard is characterized by four screws that place the wrists in place. The screws drop to the top of the keyboard and are apparently confusing, but do not go on the way to type.
Key
The best narrator for Jorno’s keys is “Clicky”. When they type, a audible click creates the sound and the click is more louder than the click on the MacBook keys. People who prefer quiet keyboards may not choose the words they click more than high-level.
The original feeling is one of the most important aspects to consider when it comes to a portable keyboard and it is a region where Jorno does a strong job. Keys feel satisfied to type and comparable to your average desktop keyboard keys.
Compared to a MacBook Pro or Air Keyboard, Jorno has the same feeling, but the key takes a bit of energy to press the bottom and there is a little more travel. This is not the same sensation to type on a MacBook keyboard, but it will feel known from the first press. According to size, the Joano keyboard is more compact than the MacBook keyboard, so the keys are smaller and together. When the revelation is revealed, Jono is about 10 inches in length.
If you are accustomed to typing a MacBook Air or Pro, it takes some time to adjust the size difference between Jorne’s keys, but after a short time the average touch typist will be accustomed to the gap and be able to type almost quickly like MacBook.
Jorno is designed to work with broad devices, so it has received specific keys for Windows, Android and iOS devices. The togling function can be held by holding the togling function key in three modes and pressing the appropriate key on the keyboard.
While in iOS mode, the function enables a number of iOS-specific features by holding the function and pressing the top of the keyboard. Returning to the iPad or iPhone’s home screen, starting a search, select text, copy, paste, control media and a key to change the volume of a device.
Other features
Jorno has a battery that lasts for 85 hours of continuous typing or standby for 220 days, which means that you should charge it once a month or it depends on your use habits. If you simply type occasionally you need to charge only every few months. Micro-USB charging with charging is done with the cable.
To save the battery life, the Jorno keyboard is revealed whenever it is revealed and it is closed. It will go to sleep even after two minutes of inaction, and will wake up with the key press.
Kickstarter
Kickstarter backs who ordered a Jorno keyboard had waited three years to get a hand on a finished product and what the backs got was a good keyboard, but not exactly what was promised at the beginning of the campaign. Jono was first placed in Kickster in 2002, where it collected more than $ 1,500 in promises, so we will abandon hundreds of years of customers waiting for a few years of products that have been changed by several designs.
Looking at Jorne’s history, the problems with the keyboard are popping up during the design period, so that the delay is delayed, sometimes once in a few months with Jorno team very little in contact with the team.
Jorno Kickstarta supporters paid for folding more than three times and it was more compact than the final version (the original approximate dimensions were 3.5 “x 1.2” vs. 577 “x 3.53” x 0.67 “), which is not quite comfortable pocketable, because it is about an inch thick. Some original Kickstarter backs are disappointed with the final product, others are happy to receive any product. In the end, the Johno team has finished with a decent product that is about to apply to new users, but it has been promised to the original bacles (the world’s smallest fold is the Bluetooth keyboard “(this title now goes to textblad).
While looking for the history of Jorno, we got a similar product from EC technology available at Amazon on Amazon, which manages us to ask us to ask questions. Many of the original Kickstarter Backer also questioned the Amazon product, so we asked the Creator Scott Starat for an explanation and in a statement he said that the version of Amazon was a copy of the Jorno product.
We have worked for two years to create a patent-ordered design that provides the experience of true premium mobile keyboard. During the production process, we have become aware that other companies begin to create a very similar product that features non-standard US key layouts. As a Tech Startup, we learned a lot throughout the whole process, including the reality of copies in the field of manufacturing, sometimes for the loss of original manufacturers. We stand behind our 90 -day warranty by standing behind the quality design of Jorneo. We are sure that Jorno users will like the keyboard like ours.
Although the copyright product is available at cheap prices, it does not provide the leather stand and case that gives Jorneo its signature look and it does not guarantee any performance.
Who is it for?
If you are looking for a portable keyboard that can be used with multiple devices, it is worth considering Jorno. It will work with McS, iPhone and iPad, and other non-apples devices. Many of the previous keyboards we saw was limited to the iPad.
Jorno folds in a size that makes it easier to be stuck in a book bag or purse, and the keys have a feeling that is higher in the market for many iPad keyboards. The case/stand is well built and has a good, strong magnetic inside and the whole package works well together.
For a basic keyboard that provides a few features outside the carrier, Jorno has a high price. This is more expensive than many other connectable keyboards in the market, but this is a reasonable more elegant solution. A big warning – if you need a keyboard that can be used in different situations where the flat surface is not always available, but Jorno is not a great choice. Its wrists do not lock tightly in place, so whenever it is not on a table it is folded inside.
