Nokia 7.2 Review: Midranger decent cannot escape from Pixel 3A shadow

As much as I want to be credited with HMD Global to give Motorola some competition that is needed here in America, some of the company’s recent phones … a problem. Nokia 4.2 suffers from performance problems, and 9 PureView contained a carcass camera that is drawn by animals and fingerprint sensors, and has Nokia 7.1 last year a set of hardware and software problems. The newest device in the Nokia squad is 7.2, which is a medium -term device at $ 350 in the United States and 299 euros in Europe. It contains a similar design for 7.1 last year (editing and narration should be of the first degree) at the same price, but the devices have received a simple update, and there is a completely new camera setting. Nokia 7.2 is a good phone itself, but at $ 50 less than Google Pixel 3A (in the United States, in any case), I think it will have a difficult sale.

Goodness

programming

Nokia 7.2 has the experience of Android One, just like all other Nokia devices.

battery

Most people should be able to get two days of use for one charge.

design

It is a good idea to have a large screen, and the phone is light in weight enough so that the large material size does not feel the huge size.

Not very good

Design (again)

There are some rear lighting problems at the top of the plate.

camera

Most of the images come out excessively.

price

No less than the Nokia 7.2 is only $ 50 of Google Pixel 3A, which has (mostly) better internal devices, faster updates, and a better camera.

Design, devices, what is in the box

At a glance, Nokia 7.2 looks like most other modern budgets. There is a large degree on top and frame at the bottom. In a true motorola way, Nokia slapped its logo on the bottom frame, just so as not to forget about making the phone you use. At least the chin is smaller than those in Nokia 7.1 last year.

The screen is a large 6.3 -inch panel 19.5: 9 1080×2280 IPS LCD, with HDR support. It looks great for the largest part, but there is an inconsistent background lighting on the upper edge of the screen, especially around the fissure. Ryan noticed this as a problem when Nokia reviewed 7.1 last year, and other Nokia devices that made HMD from similar issues.

It is difficult to pick up the rear lighting effect on the camera.

The bottom of the phone has a USB Type-C port and a single sound amplifier. Don’t worry, the headphone socket did not disappear, it is only on the upper side. The right side contains rock and power button. NOKIA 4.2, Nokia 7.2 has a power button with the LED index, which is flashing when the notifications appear. It is elegant, but it is not very useful.

The left side has a SIM and Google Auxiliary Sprinkle. Many Nokia phones (and other OEMS devices) have an auxiliary button for devices, and although it is good that you have a lost opportunity to get a customized button. Why not allow me to open the browser or start a call in one printing press?

One of the main points of sale in Nokia 7.2 is the camerafish. There is a main 48 -megapixel lens, a 5 -megapixel deepest camera, and an 8 -megapixel angle lens. I will reach the actual results later, but I hope the camera was not very huge.

The device inside the interior revolves around what you expect for a medium-range phone in 2019, but HMD Global chose to use Snapdragon 660 System-AN-ACip, which is more than two years old. It is associated with 4 GB RAM, 128 GB of storage, and a 3500 mAh fat battery.

In the box, you get the phone, the wall charger, a USB cable and a pair of 3.5 mm wire headphones. Standard things.

Software, performance and battery

Like all other Nokia phones, Nokia 7.2 is an Android One, which means more orroid. There are no applications, there are no applications installed on the carrier, and the exotic battery management is not intended with unintended consequences (at least, no longer), etc. You get an incomplete Android with all Google applications, and that’s all.

I did not find the performance to be a big problem with Nokia 7.2. This is the budget phone with a medium -range SOC, so it will be slower than every pioneer than the past year or two, but most applications are still open quickly, and the multi -task extension works well. Fortunately, I have not experienced any excessive behavior or freezing that has afflicted other modern Nokia devices, except for one freezing a few days after the phone preparation.

The only aspect of the program he did not like is to open the face This did not succeed unless you face the front camera completely straight, and until then, it has always taken a few seconds to register. Thank God there is still a fingerprint sensor.

The battery life is definitely one of the points of this high phone. Most of the days have finished with 50-60 %, usually after a mixture of social media checking, responding to emails, and a little YouTube and Hulu. Unless you use your phone everyone Time, or you play a lot of games, Nokia 7.2 must make it within two days without a problem.

Camera samples

Cameras on Nokia 7.2 decent, usually have many details. However, many pictures appear excessively, in more clear colors than they are in real life. The phone also struggles in low light, and while the night situation helps, it tends to make saturation worse.

This is still better than many other phones in this price range, but when the NOKIA 7.2 MSRP is spitting the pixel 3A, it makes the medium camera more difficult to swallow it.

Should you buy it? Rating 8/10

Nokia 7.2

Yes, if you cannot afford the 3A pixel costs. Nokia got a lot of things properly with 7.2 The phone is lightweight, the big screen is nice, the performance is good, and the experience of the unable to offer old. However, Nokia 7.2 is only less than $ 50 than Google Pixel 3A in the United States, the price difference is more essential in other countries, such as India (where 7.2 ~ 3A is ~ 4), but 7.2 will be a difficult sale in America until it is sold.

Compared to Nokia 7.2, Pixel 3A has a better camera, faster updates, and a better (slightly) processor. There are some areas where 7.2 of the 3A base comes out, such as the additional extensive corner lens and more internal storage, but I do not think this will be incredibly important for most people. Pixel 3A also works on all American transport companies, while 7.2 is not compatible with Verizon or SPRINT.

Nokia 7.2 is a good phone itself, and I am always happy to see more options for medium -range devices in the United States, especially since the only main player here is motorola. However, if the Pixel 3A price is where you live somewhat soon from the cost of Nokia 7.2, I think you will be happier with the pixels.

Purchase it if:

  • You want the battery life for two days.

  • You are on AT & T, T-Mobile, or another GSM company.

Do not buy it if:

  • You have enough money for Google Pixel 3A.

  • You are in Verizon, SPRINT or another CDMA.

  • The camera quality is very important for you.
