After using the handheld vacuum for more than 30 seconds, you need to put it back in so that it can empty itself into the dust bag on the dock. This makes overall maintenance easier, as the dock takes care of both the handheld and robot units. The only maintenance tasks are to refill and empty the water tanks and clean the base plate occasionally. Speaking of which, the latter is fully removable, making it easy to remove and wash under the sink.
Another feature I liked about the Ecovacs Deebot T30s Combo was the built-in Yiko assistant, which lets you control it without the need for an app or smart speakers. Unfortunately, it often had trouble understanding my commands, and I often had to pull out my phone to start a cleaning cycle.

Navigation and obstacles are a challenge.
Despite being a very convenient device, the Deebot T30s Combo does have some drawbacks. While its overall cleaning performance is excellent, the T30s Combo has difficulty navigating and detecting obstacles. This can cause the robot to get stuck or tangled, interrupting the cleaning process. Likewise, it’s not the best at navigating and sometimes tries to enter rooms with closed doors while occasionally missing certain spots.
Additionally, the bristle brush is a questionable choice from Ecovacs. While effective for deep cleaning, it is prone to tangling, especially with long hair and pet fur. Despite Ecovacs’ claims of anti-tangle technology, I still had to manually remove tangled pet hair, which is rarely the case with bristle brushes.
Furthermore, while the Ecovacs app offers basic controls and mapping capabilities, it lacks some of the advanced features found in competing apps. The interface can feel dated, and sometimes requires some fiddling to find the settings you’re looking for. Also, obstacles detected by the robot don’t appear on the map, which is what competing products indicate in real time.

Finally, it’s important to remember that the T30s Combo is a more expensive device and lacks some features.
